CNSC Staff at the Darlington Joint Review Panel Public Hearing


The Joint Review Panel (JRP) Hearing for OPG’s Darlington New Nuclear Power Plant project took place from March 21 to April 8, 2011 at Hope Fellowship Church at 1685 Bloor Street in Courtice, Ontario.

The CNSC staff participated at the hearing to provide its expert opinion to the JRP concerning its review of OPG’s Environmental Impact Statement and Licence to Prepare Site application. (source: OPG).

This presentation is not part of CNSC's review of the EIS and Licence to Prepare Site at the Darlington JRP hearing. The presentation provides an overview of what happened at the Fukushima Daichi nuclear power plant. It also includes information about CNSC's requirements for the review of a Licence to Construct application in the context of an external event and for lessons to be learned.

The JRP has the option of asking for clarification or additional information on any given subject discussed at the hearing for the Panel or on behalf of hearing participants. These requests are addressed as “undertakings” and are submitted to the JRP, as Hearing Documents, as soon as possible. These submissions are in English only (source: CEAA Registry).
