Subject: Proposed Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission By-laws

The Atomic Energy Control Board (AECB) has recently published the proposed Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission By-laws in Part I of the Canada Gazette.

The by-laws will be used for administration, management and conduct of the internal affairs of the future Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and for meetings of the Commission. They do not relate to hearings or other proceedings for which the Rules of Procedure will apply.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission By-laws have been issued in order to receive public comment prior to their approval by the future Commission. The by-laws were published in Part I of the Canada Gazette on January 1, 2000, and comments must be received by the AECB by February 4, 2000. Comments should be sent to:

The AECB will become the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in the year 2000, when the Nuclear Safety and Control Act comes into force.
