Review of IAEA transport regulations safety guide

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has initiated a review of its IAEA Safety Standards Series Safety Guide No. SSG-26, Advisory Material for the IAEA Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material, 2012 Edition. This document provides guidance on the requirements to ensure safety and to protect persons, property and the environment from the effects of radiation during the transport of radioactive material(s).

Following an invitation from the IAEA to identify issues and suggestions for changes to SSG-26, the IAEA invites its Member States to submit comments on the proposed revised SSG-26. For its part, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) invites the public to provide their comments on the proposed document. The CNSC will compile all comments received and submit a Canadian response to the IAEA.

Please complete the IAEA form with your comments and suggestions, and email it as an attachment to the CNSC at transport@cnsc-ccsn.gc.ca before December 1, 2017.
