MDS Nordion

MDS Nordion operates a nuclear substance processing facility, in the Kanata region of Ottawa, where radioisotopes are processed for medical uses.

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) licenses and regulates MDS Nordion by performing inspections and audits to verify that it meets all regulatory requirements and licence conditions. CNSC personnel conduct inspections and evaluations in numerous areas including emergency response, security and radiation protection.
