Labour dispute at Candu Energy
May 9, 2012
The CNSC is aware of, and recent media coverage has reported, the possibility of a labour dispute at Candu Energy.
As Candu Energy is not responsible for the operation of any major nuclear facility licensed by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, the strike of Candu Energy workers would not expect to have any impact on the safety of Canada's nuclear power plants and other facilities such as the NRU reactor at Chalk River Laboratories.
If a strike were to take place, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission would nonetheless monitor licensee activities to ensure the continued safe operation of all major nuclear facilities in Canada during the labour dispute.
