Heavy Water Spill at Gentilly-2

In accordance with reporting protocols, Hydro-Québec informed the CNSC on the morning of May 31, 2010 of an event, during which the failure of an ice plug resulted in a spill of heavy water in the Gentilly facility. The situation was returned to normal the same afternoon. Hydro-Québec will produce a follow-up report as required, which the CNSC will review. The CNSC on-site staff was kept informed throughout the event and CNSC staff has confirmed the event posed no risk to the public or the environment.
