CNSC monitoring recent events at Chalk River Laboratories
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) was made aware yesterday of events at the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL). CNSC on-site staff conclude that Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) has taken appropriate action and that there is no risk to the public or the environment.
As reported by AECL follow-up assessments did not detect ongoing contamination of the employees involved.
The CNSC will continue its regulatory oversight at CRL to ensure safety of the public, workers and the environment.
