Order to Pazin Geotechnical Services Ltd.

On August 30, 2011, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) announced that it issued an order to Pazin Geotechnical Services Ltd.

The company is based in Toronto, Ontario, and provides geotechnical, environmental and material engineering services. Pazin Geotechnical Services Ltd. currently holds a CNSC licence that authorizes the possession, transfer, use and storage of portable nuclear gauges until its expiry on August 31, 2011.

The order, issued on August 26, 2011, requires the company to transfer all portable nuclear gauges to another CNSC licensee authorized to possess nuclear gauges. The order was issued as a result of Pazin Geotechnical Services Ltd. failing to submit an application to renew their CNSC licence. As of August 31, 2011, the company will no longer be authorized to possess portable nuclear gauges.

The transfer of the gauges to another CNSC licensee prevents Pazin Geotechnical Services Ltd. from possessing the gauges without a CNSC licence and ensures the health and safety of workers, the public, and the environment.
