The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) invites public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) Screening Report for the proposed Low Enriched Uranium Fuel Bundle Production Project by the GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Canada located in Peterborough, Ontario.
The EA is being conducted pursuant to the requirements of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.
The public comment period ends on October 16, 2009.
The Draft EA Screening Report is based on a separate Environmental Impact Statement prepared by GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy Canada in response to EA Guidelines approved by the CNSC.
Interested parties should address their written comment to the CNSC Environmental Assessment Specialist at the address indicated below. CNSC staff will review and address all comments received before submitting the EA Screening Report to the Commission for approval and decision under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. All comments received regarding the EA Screening Report will be public information.
