Summary

REGDOC-2.11.1, Waste Management, Volume II: Assessing the Long Term Safety of Radioactive Waste Management, sets out the requirements and guidance for the development and implementation of a reliability program for a nuclear power plant in Canada. The essential elements of a reliability program, including reliability assessment, modelling, evaluation and monitoring, are also described in this document.

This document supersedes G-320, Assessing the Long Term Safety of Radioactive Waste Management, published in 2006, and includes the following updated information:

  1. new title
  2. new cover and inside cover
  3. insertion of standard regulatory document preface
  4. new back page showing the CNSC regulatory document series
  5. replacement of the work “guide” with "document"
  6. updated references (where appropriate), as presented in Table 1 below

Additionally, the following annexes from CSA N-292.0-14, General principles for the management of radioactive waste and irradiated fuel have been included as appendices in REGDOC-2.11.1, Volume II for information:

  1. Annex A: Radioactive waste classification, exemption, clearance and storage for decay (included in REGDOC-2.11.1, Volume II as appendix B)
