Update on the administrative monetary penalty (AMP) issued to ArcelorMittal Canada Inc.

On March 6, 2017, the CNSC confirmed that the AMP issued to ArcelorMittal Canada Inc. has been paid. The CNSC now considers this AMP closed.

Administrative monetary penalty issued to ArcelorMittal Canada Inc.

Today, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) announced it had issued an administrative monetary penalty (AMP) to ArcelorMittal Canada Inc., in the amount of $3,970. In November 2016, the licensee did not follow its approved standard operating procedure for a maintenance activity. The error directly led to two contractors receiving a radiation dose, although this dose did not exceed the limit for a member of the public. These actions constitute a violation of the Nuclear Safety and Control Act under paragraph 48(c).
