The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) has received requests to extend the comment period for Discussion Paper DIS-12-03, Fitness for Duty: Proposals for Strengthening Alcohol and Drug Policy, Programs and Testing. Stakeholders have requested more time to fully understand and assess the CNSC’s proposals for strengthening the regulatory framework set out in this paper. For more information, view the history of this discussion paper.

Discussion papers are published by the CNSC to solicit feedback on regulatory issues and proposals. It is important that stakeholders have adequate time to analyze the CNSC’s proposals, and assess the impact, if any, on their operations. The CNSC has therefore decided to extend the consultation period for this discussion paper until August 31, 2012.
